Bishops cut Sebelius off at the Knees

Kathy Sebelius maintains a long record of supporting abortion. It’s part of the reason why fringe bloggers seem to love her so much. And while many folks and Catholics in Kansas, especially in the 1st district where former Congressman (aka daddy-in-law) Sebelius served for 8 terms, tend to forget this unfortunate reality, times are-a-changin.

These sad facts have not been lost on the Archbishop of KC Kansas, Joseph Naumann. He pleaded with Sebelius numerous times and discussed the “grave spiritual and moral consequences of her public actions.” But the stubborn governor refused to listen. He politely and privately asked her to refrain from taking Communion. But she ignored him. Naumann explained to Sebelius that by working to liberalize abortion laws and expand access to abortion clinics in Kansas she was “cooperating in evil.” But she'd still attend church in Topeka. This patent disobedience persisted even as she, ironically enough, continued to justify her support for Obama, also a pro-abort, because of their shared sense of morality.

Having been unsuccessful in pleading to Sebelius’ sense of morality, Naumann decided to pressure Sebelius through the only avenue that had any teeth for Kansas' media queen. So he called her out publicly. Whether or not this was a directive from Pope Benedict XVI that Naumann and other bishops received during the Pope's recent visit to the states is yet to be determined, but the implications of receiving, what is tantamount to a public excommunication from the Church, is sure to have the governor’s office in a tailspin. I'm also curious to know whether she received communion this weekend.

The extended irony of this whole affair is that the basis for Sebelius’ Vice Presidential candidacy- her Catholic appeal in key battleground states AND her moral/Midwestern balance to the wackiness of Reverend Wright all things fringebama- is now her biggest liability.

The notion of having a President and a Vice President who both share a toxic relationship with their pastor and/or spiritual advisor, does not sit well with Middle America. While Sebelius was recently ranked as a top pick for Obama’s VP, it doesn’t take a seminarian to conclude that Naumann’s answer on that one was “No.”

Poor Kathy. Poor Kathy.

first- who's kathy?

second...the archbishop's actions are the only thing unfortunate thing here.

I am a proud Catholic and have been so my entire life. I support Governor Sebelius and will continue to support her.

Kathy is an embarassment to all Catholics, and she is becoming an embarassment to the state of Kansas as well. It is priceless, that Obama named her to his Catholic steering committee.

This Catholic has voted for Sebelius four times- twice for Insurance Commissioner, and twice for Governor.

I would vote for her as many times as I can.

Oh right, I forgot, only those of us who have never sinned are allowed in the Catholic church.

"The one among you who is without sin, let him cast the first stone."

"Judge not lest ye be judged"

It's in the Bible, you know, that book that teaches love and acceptance. Perhaps you've heard of it.

i'm not a catholic, and i'm personally pro-life...but this doesn't matter to me at all.

Thou shall not kill

It's also in the Bible.

Then Sebelius should quit insulting the Church by trying to receiving Communion. She is a disgrace to Catholics and a disgrace to Kansas. This has nothing to do with whether or not someone is without sin, it has to do with whether or not they are actively promoting sin. Which she is.

Spare us your selective quotations from the Bible. It is clear the only time you read anything from it is when you do a google search for quotes, to suit your political purpose.

Moron.

By the way, someone was griping that we hadn't posted on this story yet. Well, I promised that we would, and now we have.

So why all the hysteria? Sorry the Bishops smacked your precious little Governor around. Kind of hurts her political credibility doesn't it?

You can stick a fork in this Governor, she's done.

Wyatt...a Bishop didn't do anything at all...facts are annoying, aren't they?

you think this matters to anyone outside of..well..you? no, of course it doesn't.

and what on earth do you mean she's "done"? done with what? 2 more years as governor, still a very likely US Senate candidate and, of course, still a potential Veep. you honestly think this changes that?

are you that silly?

Wyatt said...

It does change a lot of things. If you think this isn't a national story, we will do another posting later today or tomorrow, showing that it is.

It must matter to the Kansas City Star a little, I think that they might have written something on it.

Are you that silly, or perhaps you are just illiterate?

Anonymous said...

it's obviously "news" because, yes, indeed, it's in the newspaper.

that doesn't make it important, or a big deal, or earth-shattering, or anything else like that.

how on earth do you think it changes anything, though? she's catholic and pro-choice- everyone knows that. no, wyatt, this doesn't make Sebelius anything other than what she was already, but you're too dumb to see that.

Anonymous said...

wyatt, are you the same kid who wrote Bounce Boyda? you seem to be about as easy to set off as he (or she) was.

Anonymous said...

Apart from everything else you said Wyatt, the parallels you draw regarding Obama and Sebelius having issues with their Pastor/Priest is key.

I think that is the biggest factor in all this. Democrats not being "square" with their religious advisors.

Wyatt said...

Easy to set off? Are you kidding me, everytime I post something, I draw you Democrats out of the woodwork. Don't you have day jobs? Or are you too busy watching Oprah and getting fat?

Anonymous said...

most people read blogs from work. :-)

and, i say you're easy to set off because you go so nuts in the comment section

Wyatt said...

Anon, for every one comment I make, I can typically get about three or four outraged Democrats commenting.

So....take it easy, sit down and breathe.

Also, do you just post during Oprah's commercial breaks, or is that when you take your bon-bon break?

Anonymous said...

question, wyatt- why, when you posted your incorrectly titled "Bishops cut Sebelius off at the Knees" (because no bishop was involved) did you post from Wild Bill's account and not your own?

Wyatt said...

Sorry, we should have titled the piece, The Archbishop Smacksdown Sebelius! You like that title better, Mr. Editor

And by the way, moron, an Archbishop is in fact a BISHOP. He is a bishop who oversees other bishops.

Anonymous said...

again, wyatt, when you post, why aren't you signed in as "wyatt"? why are you signed in as "wild bill"?

Anonymous said...

oh, come on, kid, you've got options:

"no, we aren't all just the same person just posting under different names."

"no, this blog isn't just trying to look like we've got more than one person writing."

"no, we weren't smart enough to realize someone could catch us"

Anonymous said...

TKR at it again, beating the Democrats over the head.

You silly Dems would be better off not engaging the mighty TKR. You give them a lot of legitimacy. The fact that you read them means they have penetrated the public consciousness.

And for Sebelius... did you expect anything less? For gosh sakes, just look at the way she raised her spoiled brat son. Now he's selling absurd and disgusting board games from the Governor's basement. Insane!

When someone disagrees with you in real life, do call them a fat oprah watcher, or is that behavior reserved for your blog?

Wyatt said...

Ahem, when I post comments or "login" as you say, I do it under "wyatt" however, if you would like to think this blog is just one person wearing several different hats, that is fine to.

Now get back to Dr. Phil, and your bon-bons.

Anonymous said...

no, dear wyatt, you misunderstand.

your post- this one about sebelius- shows publically that it was written by "wyatt"

but...that's not the account name..it was written from the "wild bill" account.

so...why?

Wild Bill said...

what the heck are you talking about?

Anonymous said...

when this post came through on a google blog alert, the byline looked like this:

By Wyatt(Wild Bill)

Why on earth could that be? That's display name (account name)

Wyatt said...

All right, nerd, good point, now get back to your Oprah.

Anonymous said...

lol...thanks, "wyatt"

now get back to playin' hacky sack

Are you Lefty wackos serious? You actually care if a blogger posts under a made up name? What is the difference between one made up name and another?
I mean, seriously, Ally K (who believes abstinence gives people STDs! Can someone explain the math on that one to her?) blogs under multiple names all the time.
As for the story that these comments are attached to, it's about time the Catholic bishops started calling out the leftwingers willfully flipping the bird at their church and its tenets of faith.

Anonymous said...

if you don't like the comments, you don't have to read them :-)

it's just cute that the blog pretends to have several writers when, obviously, they don't really.

do i care? no, not at all...but someone else might, so i'm glad to point it out.

Anonymous said...

oh, and as to Ally Klimkoski..love her, hate her- she's a real girl from lawrence, and, as far as this "leftwing wacko" knows, she always writes under her own name.

unlike the good folks from this blog.

You gotta love it. An obvious kid (Kathy, smackdown, etc.) posts and then goes nuts when anybody comments on his post. Sounds like Wyatt is responsible for about 75% of the comments. Blogs because he can't stand up to actual dialogue with adults. Doesn't sound like Wyatt is actually a Catholic because he gets too many facts wrong; just jealous that he couldn't have been an altar boy for one of those nice priests.
