Kathy Sebelius and George Tiller

Today's ap wire highlighting Sebelius' intimate relationship with George Tiller, the nation's most notorious abortionist, is already making media rounds. Thanks to Operation Rescue, we have a picture of Sebelius holding a tee-shirt alongside Tiller in the Governor's mansion with the words "Trifecta- Sebelius, Parkinson, Morrison 2006." (talk about a Hell of a photo op..)

Even for pro-choicers, it is one thing to believe in the right to have an abortion. But to invite an abortion clinic staff into the Governor's mansion for a tax-payer funded souiree, well... that's a little too much. You stack that on top of the frosty relationship that Sebelius already has with her archbishop (for abortion related matters) and then the fact that Sebelius "celebrated her birthday on May 15, 2007, at a party thrown by Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri " and the narrative seems a bit bleak.

Moreover, the ambiguities surrounding this story are endless- Is it illegal or unethical for the Governor to raffle off invitations to her home for political contributions? Does Sebelius usually allow proxy groups, or so she claims, to invite whomever they want into her home without her knowing it? Can Sebelius accept an in-kind contribution (birthday party) by a political organization (planned parenthood) under Kansas ethics laws? Was this contribution disclosed in her finance reports?

But the more important question is whether Kansas media is willing to ask these questions of their beloved governor? I thank John Hanna for his commitment to honest journalism. I would hope that the same could be said about the rest of our media outlets.

I just love that the trifecta included the Gov. Lite and not Boyda.

Everyone has always known this in Kansas and she still won over R's in '06. So how is this a problem for her?

SRK actually posted about legislative races today, which...so this post makes you even lamer than them. Didn't think that was possible.

um...tiller didn't give any money to boyda, that might be why she wasn't listed.

but this remains a story only to the anti-abortion nutjobs of the world- no normal Americans.

i enjoy the worst thing they consistently call Gov. Sebelius is "Kathy."

it's John Hanna.

First of all, Tiller is a Republican. Check it out. Second, it was Bill Graves with whom he had the really close relationship. He barely knows Sebelius. Sure he supports her ... but so do most prochoice Republicans.

Graves had a "really close relationship" with Tiller!?!?!?! WTF???

What kind of Operation Rescue kool-aid are you drinking?

god, you rabid loons....Tiller is just a man with money, and he's given to any candidate who isn't crazy and for 20 years.

yes, he gave money to graves. he isn't a boogeyman, he's just a man most people don't care about in the slightest.

this is not the kinda thing Obama is looking for. Why is Sebelius trying to highlight her pro-abortion stance? Tiller is an animal.

So much for Kathy as VP. Obama will run away from Sebelius as fast as voters run away from Kline. Kathy as a VP was a joke anyway.

Since you posted this at almost 9 o'clock last night, I'll take it to mean that you're lying, not just uninformed.

1) The party wasn't for Tiller, he won a silent auction to have a party at the gov's mansion. Do you think she rigged the auction?

2) The party wasn't paid for by the taxpayers, despite ORs proof (that actually says it was reimbursed by the KC women's group that held the auction)

Careful TKR, sell out to OR and you'll end up in the same position as the KS GOP. There's a reason they're trying to distance themselves from radicals like Troy Newman. Most Kansans don't give a damn.

Kansans do care, however, if their own Governor's mansion is being sold to the highest bidder at a political function. This hurts Sebelius, no other way to look at it.

Tiller is not that bad- are you kidding me? He performed an abortion on a woman with downsyndrome who was 7 months pregnant!!!! He is terrible and is everything that is wrong with the abortion debate

No, of course it doesn't hurt the governor, and, no, Kansans aren't dumb enough to have a problem with the Governor offering up her home for parties.

it's only the rabid anti-choice crowd that think this is bad.

Apart from a convicted felon, there is probably no American political figure that Kansans would rather not have their Governor thrown a reception for than George Tiller.

I'd love to see a Kansas poll: "Do you think it is OK for the Sebelius to host receptions in the Governor's mansion for George Tiller, or any abortion provider, and their respective staff?"

Memo to Wild Bill. Most Kansans have no idea who Tiller is and we have had polls done; they're called elections and a vocal pro-choice Dem cleaned our clocks twice with ease. Go back to coal, boys.

Sibileus is making up all sorts of stories about this, but - bottom line - she owes Tiller a lot so when he says he'd like to bring his hard-working abortionist staff and some of his hard-working out-of-state abortionist friends over for dinner, she could hardly have said "no". It's kind of like the Lincoln Bedroom except no fun-loving actors and actresses, just a bunch of people who have spent the day killing babies. No biggie, says our guv.
