Tillergate at Cedar Crest has engulfed Kansas and national media to the point where any chance that Sebelius might have had as VP has been effectively exterminated. Sebelius' principle strength, her appeal to rural, middle class Catholics in PA and OH has been jeopardized by her close relationship with a notorious partial birth abortionist who specializes in a practice, the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY) described as "too close to infanticide."Moreover, apart from the absurdity of claiming to "not know" that an abortionist and his staff were coming to your home, Tillergate at Cedar Crest brings to light substantive legal and ethical questions. Is it right for Sebelius to use government resources and venues to promote a political organization, the Greater KC Women's Political Caucus, whose PAC, GKCWPC-PAC, works to elect pro-abortion candidates in Kansas and Missouri?
Thankfully, Tillergate at Cedar Crest is getting the coverage it deserves including: AP, Dallas Morning News, LJ- World and here, FOXnews.com, CBSNews.com, ABCTV (Wichita), ABCTV (KC), a Wichita Eagle (editorial), Topeka Cap Journal, the Topeka Cap Journal Blog, Lifesite (PA), the KC Star, a KC Star Editorial, and the Star's Primebuzz.
I'm confident Queen Kathy will revert to her refined spin mode, perhaps even with the counsel of crisis communications all-star Shanan Guinn, to navigate her way out of this boondoggle. Who knows, maybe she can get the VP vetting folks on the Obama campaign to pass over the absurdity that is, Tillergate at Cedar Crest.

sebelius is not really a consideration for VP candidate. anyone who thinks so is far removed from reality
First, in EVERY article you linked to the same very logical explanation was used: Sebelius didn't invite them, they won dinner with her at a silent auction. Kansans understand this is no big thing.
You wouldn't be jumping up and down if it was the NRA that Sebelius was "using government resources to entertain." You only care because she's a Democrat and we're talking about the GKCWPC.
And, kids- this isn't hurting Sebelius's chances of being VP- it's being from Kansas that hurts her chances.

god bless republicans for denying reality.
I think people who know tiller and know sebelius already have an opinion on this. It isn't a matter of information or "educating" the public about Tiller. People in Kansas already have a stance on these issues and either they don't care, don't want to talk about it, oppose it, or support it. There is no real way to win anything by constantly talking about this crap.
Go back to the campaigns, that's so much more interesting to read
Sebelius doesn't bring anything to the ticket. According to polling even with her on the ticket as a VP Kansas goes Republican. Even in the most complementary models you still can't get anywhere. Obama is going to choose someone like the Gov. of PA or someone like that. A Clinton supporter from a big state. Two birds ... one stone... yada yada
From the Wichita Eagle editorial.
"Of more concern is that Sebelius was willing to auction off party time in the Kansas governor's mansion to benefit not a charity but a political group such as the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus, which supports pro-choice women candidates. Sebelius' involvement with such causes is to be expected, but such use of the governor's mansion isn't.
Sebelius should show better judgment about when, if ever, she offers up use of Cedar Crest to the highest bidder. Most Kansans would prefer their governor's mansion not be rented out to political ends, a la the Clinton-era Lincoln Bedroom."
yeah, and what did joe lieberman bring to the ticket? did dan quayle change anything?
sebelius brings executive experience, the historic gender/ ethnic composition...she doesn't bring kansas, but it doesn't make sense to say she doesn't bring "anything" to the ticket.
Sebelius brings baggage. A f*@^ed up relationship with her priest, a knack for intermingling with abortionists, a zealous opposition to coal and driving up energy prices, zero national security experience and a history of using the Governor's mansion for personal gain (i.e. her own political pet projects or her son's weirdo "don't drop the soap" game that insults anyone with a shred of decency.)
Maybe she'll just stay quiet and let over-enthusiastic and sophomoric zealots draw undermine their case by, literally, demonizing her.
Sebelius brings NO baggage with her- absolutely nothing that damages her or the national ticket.
you all want so badly for this to hurt her- but it doesn't hurt her- the only people this upsets are people that already didn't like her.
lol...are you people actually dumb enough to think Kathleen Sebelius's son's board game makes her less likely to become the second most powerful person in the federal government?
can you really be that juvenile?
what makes her less likely is that she's from Kansas...nothing else. this whole tiller thing DOESN'T hurt her with national Democrats at all.
Ha. Tiller doesn't hurt?
Sebelius is close friends with a man who specializes in killing babies that 0-12 weeks from term.
Yup. We're the ones out of touch with middle America...
for the love of....no one knows or cares who George Tiller is.
the only people he hurts her with are people who are already against abortion...just like the only people Rev. Hagee turned off from John McCain were people who already don't trust christian conservatives.
this is a TKR orgasm in one post: Sebelius, Tiller, Guinn.
if it had just has coal, phill kline, and melvin neufeld i'd say we need to call an ambulance.
Is it safe to say Sebelius' VP candidacy has been aborted?
is that pitchfork suppose to be some sort of abortion contraction?
is it safe to say the kansas republican party is a single-issue association now?
no, ok, two issues- abortion & coal.
you may want to include economic prosperity, job growth, limited government, deregulation, family values, lower taxes and a strong national defense.
But pro-life and energy independence is also part of the platform. So that's a good start.
At this point in an election year, Sebelius' VP candidacy abortion must be considered late-term.
this only makes Sebelius that much more acceptable to the Democratic party.
so nice of kris kobach to make pro-choice republicans feel welcome with this "sebelius's support of this abortionist is disgusting" remark.
Oh my God! Sebilius is pro-choice! Who knew? This is truly breathtaking breaking news. And to the 11:08 poster who listed Republican issues. Bush and the Republicans I voted for have delivered on none of those. We have runaway spending, bad economic times, a war based on totally bogus info, a stretched beyond belief military, a lessened fear of our military worldwide, etc. Our only hope is that voters will separate McCain from Bush. I don't care whether or a conservative or a moderate; Bush has been a disaster for our party. But I guess if we're pro-life nothing else matters?
It just goes to poor judgement....really....if Fred Phelps...another KS Democrat.....bought the ticket, would she let him in? Really, this guy is about as harmful politically. Hell, even Morrison said he was breaking the law.
did anyone notice the president of the united states of america was in kansas today?
he was in the 3rd district....raising money for republican congressional candidate nick jordan.
this blog is run by kids who think muckraking is news...and they're rather lambaste a tremendously popular incumbent democrat than talk about REPUBLICAN PARTY NEWS.
Unfortunately, these kids are the same group, or are friends of the same group, that have been running our campaigns recently which explains our recent losing streak.
They only know how to lampoon; they don't know how to make the GOP case.
Even if he runs away from her now, Obama will have to live in dread of the damage this association will cause him. Sibeleus doesn't have a very savory personal reputation, but having a houseful of abortionists over to party...even I'm shocked.
At the party at Cedar Crest ... Tiller actually performed free abortions for all the guests. Of course, not all of them were pregnant. Theses were really just recreational abortions. Tiller was set up in the Cedar Crest kitchen. It was great fun.
