Sebelius' National Security Credentials Slammed in Washington Post

Today's Washington Post highlights the most notable (of many) liabilities that Kathy Sebelius brings to an Obama ticket.

Foreign Policy Is Foreign to Her
Obama's most obvious weakness in the general election campaign is the relative thinness of his resume -- particularly on matters of foreign policy -- compared with John McCain… For Obama to pick someone with even less experience than he has on national security and foreign policy matters makes very little sense… Sebelius spent eight years as insurance commissioner and before that eight years in the state legislature. An impressive resume to be sure, but not exactly one that will reassure voters who are concerned about Obama's readiness to handle a world crisis."

"Sebelius was tapped by the Democratic leadership to deliver their party's response to President Bush's final State of the Union address… [she was] stilted, shaky and something far short of the charismatic and self-assured figure many expected to see."

Of course the Washington Post neglected to mention a few other enormous liabilities. 1st, if the 3x veto of the state-of-the-art clean coal plants at Holcomb tells us anything, it's that Sebelius opposes coal. This does not sit well with mining communities and big labor in the all-important Ohio, Pennsylvania &West Virginia (these are the bitter, gun-toting, God-loving voters that Obama must reach out to). Moreover, it reaffirms the claim that apart from blaming energy companies, Democrats have failed to offer any financially feasible solutions to our energy needs.

2nd, Sebelius' frosty relationship with Bishop Naumann, who has publicly denounced her for violating the churches tenets while still accepting communion, highlights the Reverend Wright fiasco. What does it say about a ticket if both the President and the Vice President have miserable relationships with their spiritual advisers/ leaders?

3rd, Sebelius' George Tiller and his late-term abortion staff soiree at the Governor's mansion calls into question Sebelius' commitment to Kansas ethics laws, Obama's 'politics of change' and her overall level of judgement. While the Washington Post folks may neglected these points, I'm sure they haven't been lost on Obama's vetters, even with all the corruption-laden resignations flying around.

there is absolutely no way, that in choosing another woman to go on the ticket, obama doesn't alienate all the hillary supporters out there. But does hillary really want to play second fiddle to Barack?? I think she's rather hold her own in the seante and then come back in 4 or 8 years to do it again. We shall see.

obama disavows reverend wright. the local bishop takes Sebelius to task for habitual disobedience.

talk about a combination made in heaven.

I even think this whole anti-coal thing could hurt sebelius stumping as a proxy on obama's behalf.

Sebelius is in over her head. The national media isn't in love with her like the KC Star or the Topeka Capitol-Journal.

Does anyone know where I can get a family friendly board game about prison rape?

She blew the national security part when she over-acted the lines that the DNC fed her before her Greensburg press conference. She attended a meeting with the Adjutant General and Sam Brownback. Brownback asked pointed questions about readiness, equipment, personnel and was assured that the Guard had more than enough of everything to do their job. Sebelius said absolutely nothing throughout the meeting (not unusual, this is another thing that her stenographers in the press fail to mention)then marched out to the microphone to do her Norma Desmond impersonation. Bunting and Brownback, and everyone else who had been in that meeting, were flabergasted.
