The AP, rips into Jim Slattery for his lobbying ties. According to the Center for Public Integrity, his "job descriptions" for his clients are "broadly worded and provide little new information beyond what the public has access to through the U.S. Senate Office of Public Records. The list also does not indicate how much the companies paid for his work."
The Cap-Journal shares a similar message, and the Wichita Eagle charges Slattery with "tiptoeing around the issues."
Lynn Jenkins has launched a 4-day, 26 county tour of the 2nd District, which will culminate with a formal candidacy filing on Tuesday in Topeka.
Steven Six hints at what most of us already know, he's planing on running for a 4-year term in 2010.
The Atlantic offers great bios for Obama's potential VP picks, including Sebelius.
Tiahrt's amping up his fiscal conservative bonafides, and Wichita radio is taking notice.
A 14-year old just caught a whopping 28 inch long, 11 pounds, 12.8 ounces large mouth bass, breaking Kansas' previous state record.
And lastly, I've purchased Wyatt a coloring book so he can channel his absurdities in a more substantive fashion.

this lobbyist thing is not going to go away anytime soon. Roberts is going to continue to say that Slattery hasn't disclosed enough. Take that, along with all the other anti-lobbyist talk on the presidential campaign, and you have a long road till November for are ole' pal Jim.
so roberts will hit slattery for being disconnected from kansans....and slatts will hit roberts for being disconnected from kansans....
next?
hmmmm... how do you say "spin" in lobbyist-talk?
Pivot
Once Slattery's poll numbers show no movement, which won't take long, he'll fade away into the background.
I'm not a huge Jenkins fan, but Ryun can't beat Boyda and she can, so she gets my vote. Jenkins will have to vote like a conservative in Congress to get re-elected, I think she knows that.
Jenkins is running her campaign on conservative principles, hitting hard on spending and taxes. She can be trusted to do as she says and she has my vote.
jenkins has voted to raise taxes more times than anyone else in the race...she's NOT a conservative.
Congrats to the young man who caught the record Bass.
KSDWP has a great statewide fishing clinic. If you have children this is a great way for them to learn about an enjoyable lifetime activity.
If you wanna say Jenkins isn't conservative on spending because taxes were increased on fuel to pay for the state's 10 year highway/transportation plan and she voted for it ...... then I guess you need to throw most state Republican "conservative" leaders on that same bus ..... they also voted for that legislation
Everybody claims to hate lobbyists more than the next guy. But nobody tries to change the first amendment to make lobbying illegal. Why?
talk to me about the sales tax she voted for?
That's OK Mr. Kensinger, why don't you talk about the sales tax she voted for.
Roberts can attack Slattery for being a lobbyist all he wants ... it doesn't matter ... there's only one issue: Iraq
What about all the taxes Jenkins voted to reduce, there are more of those than tax increases.
oh, so jenkins voted to increase taxes before she voted to cut them?
that's a GREAT message
Ryun can't win in the general.
Working for Ryun = Re-Electing Boyda
too funny TKR.
Lobbying is not a First Amendment issue. Anyone has free speech .... First amendment does not give anyone or any group the right to buy access to people in Congress.
Nothing in the First Amendment gives a lobbyist or organization the right to buy dinners, host fundraisers, make campaign contributions to individuals in Congress. There are already some limitations on those.
hey asshole, the state has to balance it's budget. Unlike the feds like Ryun who can just spend your kids money into oblivion and not balance a budget. Oh, didn't Ryun promise to balance the federal budget?? Another promise broken.
defend lynn however you nuts want, but the woman has voted to increase taxes more times than either of the people she's running again...and when boyda's in the game, that's saying something.
It is so weird to read the summaries of VP options and know any of the politics behind the Sibileus story: why her father was elected, why he wasn't re-elected, her career as a lobbyist for trial lawyers, her voting record in the House, why the Clintons didn't pursue giving her husband a federal judgeship. I'd love to see the bill from the public relations firm that's trying to make her seem palatable.
Big wing-ding in Johnson County this weekend and no sign of Slattery. He must be busy amending his lobbyist disclosure. Between that and making all the calls that Sebelius has assigned to him: no time to campaign.
No need for you to see Kathy's bills: you've already paid them. Nothing to see here: just a nice, aging Democrat.
Sebelius is being screened for Veep as we speak. The Obama people will do due diligence. They'll look very closely. But, she's got a real plus ... Obama likes her very much. He's not as fond of the others. Kathleen is much more down-to-earth than the DC-types. Obama wants a running mate who isn't an old school establishment Democrat. A campaign about change needs a fresh face.
Choosing Sebelius for VP would be a great sign to Republicans. It would show that Saint Obama and his disciples aren't as smart as his buddies in the press would lead the masses to believe.
If Obama were to make such a critical error as to pick one of the most boring political hacks they can find as VP, a person who didn't get elected on her own merits but on the back of idiotic mistakes by Republicans, someone so entrenched with the trial lawyer lobby and lobbying in general (is that CHANGE?), then what other mistakes are they going to make?
Please pick Sebelius!!! Please, I'm begging you!!!
"Roberts can attack Slattery for being a lobbyist all he wants ... it doesn't matter ... there's only one issue: Iraq"
This was more than likely written by someone who gets his or her opinion fed to them by the mainstream media. While Iraq is an important issue, it is not the only one.
Im currently deployed in Iraq, and I have to say first hand that it is going in the right direction. The problem is that Americans have a "results now" approach. Not going to happen with a nation that has never known real freedom.
People have to get used to the fact that we will be here for a long time, and no matter how much Barrack or Good Ol' Jim try to get all of the troops to come home, it will never happen.
While a majority of troops may eventually come home, not all will. Slatts shouldn't talk about an issue he knows nothing about. He's never been here. He's never visited any Wounded Warriors, and I guarantee this, he's never talked to an Iraqi and asked them what they thought about this war.
Slatts and Barrack are just another bunch of politicians who will over promise and under deliver. At least Roberts is consistent and makes tough choices when others fail to. Thats what leadership is all about.
Take a close look at Obama's team who is screening for VP and you will know who he associates with .... new change my butt .....
Let me see .... one of the Kennedy family, a Clinton Justice Department lawyer (Eric Holder) who recommended the Clinton's to pardon Mark Rich, and longtime Washington insider Jim Johnson, former CEO of Fannie Mae with questionable loan dealings with Countrywide.
Now that is change.
